Herstory to Remember

February 26, 2024

Hi there,

I am so excited to take you on this life journey of mine. Originally, I created this blog as a portfolio of my qualifications and achievements for prospective viewers and employers. Now, it will also include stories documenting my experiences as a Black woman navigating the world. The last year of my life has been a whirlwind; it has been anxiety-producing yet historic. I'm only now starting to believe that my story is worth sharing. Realizing that so much of Black history, so many Black traditions, and Black experiences go untold and unrecognized as society continues to reshape itself. The world has a way of making Black women feel unseen, unheard, and secondary to the day-to-day lives that most know. However, Black women are the dominating force pushing society forward in ways most have yet to imagine. I'm vowing to vale me. I am vowing to value myself and document the escapades of my life. I want to look back and see the stories I told, the lives I impacted, and the difference I made. Using this platform, I will reflect on my thinking and explain what is happening in the community in which I reside, right here in Luzerne County, PA.

So, stay tuned for updates. Know that the following themes or topics below are some you might see here in the future.

  • Experiences of an Educator

  • Intersectionality

  • Black History

  • Anti-Racism

  • Navigating Politics

  • Scholarship

  • Community Building

  • LGBTQIA+ Identities

  • Higher Education

Until next time, my friends!
